feito com muito amor pela mamã #03 [blouse for a little fox named Olívia]

fevereiro 27, 2016

My first project for the kid's clothes week is finished and I couldn't be happier about it.

As I explained before (in portuguese), I started this blouse before I found out about this edition of KCW (luckily using a fabric that fits the "toys" theme). So, my first goal of the week was simply: to finish the blouse for Olívia.

pattern: Le petit haut à col claudine, from the book Nouveaux intemporels pour enfants (Astrid Le Provost / Citronille)
size: 2 years
fabric: Kokka Trefle (tiny fox double gauze)

I have to stress that I am a newbie in the sewing community, so you might find my methods are not the best... Please, tell me in case you see in my pictures something that does not make sense!

The bottom, back and sleeve hems were hand-stitched, as suggested in the pattern I was following. However, how should I finish the seams (I don't have a serger)? I used a zigzag stitch, but I am not so happy with the result.

finishing the seams with a zigzag stitch:

assembling the peter pan collar:

finishing the edge of the neckline with bias:

hand-stitched bottom and back (and sleeve) hems:

almost done:

Time to choose the buttons! It was hard to choose and in the end it was R. who chose the ones.
Which ones would you choose?

In the end, a small detail which I love:

And that's it <3
Dear spring, we are waiting for you.

Boas costuras.

Tenho de experimentar costuras inglesas no meu próximo projecto!
E, claro, entretela na carcela dos botões... Teria feito toda a diferença... (na gola coloquei)
